Quatrième opus de YoungBoy Never Broke Again, The Last Slimeto intervient quelques mois à peine après la mixtape collaborative Better Than You, enregistrée avec DaBaby. Nombreux sont les producteurs, parmi lesquels Bobby Raps, DJ Suede the Remix God, JetsonMade, OG Parker, ou encore Southside, à s’être pressé au chevet du rappeur louisianais pour ce disque riche de trente morceaux, pour une durée totale avoisinant 1h20. Difficile avec autant de matière de faire preuve d’homogénéité, et YoungBoy n’échappe pas à certaines redondances, d’autant plus qu’il ne fait appel qu’à très peu d’invités, en l’occurrence trois : Kehlani sur « My Go To », Rod Wave sur « Home Ain’t Home » et Quavo sur « Don’t Rate Me ». Sans être particulièrement brillants, les trois morceaux viennent rompre une certaine monotonie aux moments où celle-ci se fait le plus ressentir. En dépit d’une production soignée, The Last Slimeto donne surtout l’impression de servir à entretenir la renommée du rappeur de 22 ans plutôt que d’aspirer à devenir l’un de ses classiques.
