Encore une fois le fruit de l’étroite collaboration entre Afrika Islam et Ice T, ce troisième album du rappeur leader est un virage vers un son moins funky mais surtout plus rude, très sombre et très engagé.
A l’image de la pochette, un dessin d’un jeune noir avec des canons de pistolets dans tous les orifices du visage, Ice T se sent cerné par la censure gouvernementale.
L’album s’ouvre sur « Shut Up, Be Happy », où sur un sample de Black Sabbath (préfigurant le futur Body Count), Jello Biaffra, chanteur de Dead Kennedys, s’exprime, en cousin punk du rappeur de South Central. Champion de la métaphore sanglante, Ice T donne libre cours à sa verve salace (sa rencontre avec une dominatrice dans « The Girl Tried To Kill Me ») ou séditieuse sur l’ensemble de ces morceaux fondamentalement agressifs.
