Disciple de Jean-Marc Luisada à l’Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, la pianiste russe Alexandra Matvievskaya s’est plongée tardivement dans l’œuvre de Gabriel Fauré qui la fascina rapidement. Elle réunit ici six partitions à la fois complexes et emblématiques de l'oeuvre pour piano du compositeur. Quatre Nocturnes, du tempétueux Deuxième à l'ultime et tragique Treizième, qui béneficie ici d'une interprétation à la fois sombre et réellement résignée, en passant par l'extatique Quatrième et le très délicat Sixième.
Alexandra Matvievskaya a déjà pu s'affirmer lors de divers concerts comme une interprète extraordinaire de la Ballade, l'une des partitions les plus difficiles du répertoire pianistique et que son pianisme transporte littéralement en plein air.
