A l’image de Zaz, personne n’a vu arriver Pep’s et son tube gentiment utopiste « Liberta », même s’il avait déjà à son actif deux albums. Il est de retour avec un troisième essai Equilibre sauvage.
« En solo », le deuxième single et sa mélodie rythmée par des violons rappelle ce qui a fait le succès de l’artiste. Une musique métissée souvent portée par des paroles qui vous emmènent ailleurs, ici sur « la grande bleue ». Dans « Bateau ivre », Pep’s compile Rimbaud, Vian et Houellebecq sur l’état amoureux. La libération, elle, surgit dans le bel hommage à Nelson « Madiba » Mandela. « S’il y a un homme, c’est toi » écrit le chanteur. Le « voyage » revient en fin d’album, où voix et guitares se mêlent dans un titre acoustique inspiré par le désert marocain.
Enregistré au studio ICP de Bruxelles qui a vu passer Gainsbourg et Bashung, l’album révèle la rondeur de « Doute en foi », le rock « Madame », et la chaude ballade « Equilibre sauvage ». « Vers toi, je tends équilibre sauvage, sans craindre le naufrage » dit Pep’s. Toutefois difficile d’accrocher à certains textes encore fades. Reste un album riche musicalement et bien produit.
