Le second album d’Alice Cooper pour Straight, le label de Zappa, marque une nette amélioration par rapport à Pretties For You. Le son est plus efficace, grâce à la présence du producteur de Neil Young, David Briggs (qui joue également du piano sur le très pop « Shoe Salesman »). Les compositions sont plus sobres et jouées de façon plus concise, la voix caractéristique du chanteur est enfin là (notamment sur le titre d’ouverture, « Mr & Misdemeanor » et sur « Return Of The Spiders », dédié à Gene Vincent), bref, les éléments du futur « son » Alice Cooper se mettent en place. Quelques passages légèrement psyché subsistent encore (« Still No Air »), ainsi que la forte empreinte des Who (« Below Your Means ») et on note une étrange ressemblance entre « Laughting at Me » et ce que produit alors David Bowie, même sur le plan vocal (sans compter l’allure très « glitter » des musiciens sur la pochette)… Bref, Alice Cooper se cherche encore, mais on sent sur ce disque qu’il va bientôt trouver sa voie.
NB : Pretties For You et Easy Action ont été réédités séparément, mais il existe également un CD réunissant ces deux albums.
