À la fin des années 80, les fans de Pink Floyd attendaient avidement un spectacle live pour entendre les vieux morceaux et voir tous les vieux numéros. Ils ont été entendus, avec la tournée mondiale de Pink Floyd en 1987/1988, documentée sur le coffret double CD de Delicate Sound of Thunder. La réunion de Pink Floyd (sans Roger Waters) à l'initiative de David Gilmour fut une tentative de recréer le son et l'atmosphère des grands classiques du groupe, on n'est donc pas surpris si les vieux morceaux ressemblent aux enregistrements classiques, à la différence que seul David Gilmour chante. Le groupe offre une bonne prestation, avec une musique professionnelle, compétente et souvent bien agréable, un très bon souvenir de la tournée.
