The Thrills' Big Sur EP contains the jaunty, Monkees-referencing title track (which is taken from the group's So Much for the City) and four more songs: two laid-back, acoustic renditions of tracks from the album (the piano-led "Your Love Is Like Las Vegas" and an emotional "Santa Cruz (You're Not That Far)"), a non-album track (the peppy "Nobody Likes to Be Upstaged," which shows off the band's sun-kissed backing vocals and features an insanely cool guitar solo), and an especially heartbreaking live cover of the Smiths' "Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me." The Thrills' debut album was one of the highlights of 2003 and if you were enchanted by its wild and wooly delights, you'll want to track this down, too.
