The beginning of the Warner retrospective of Johanna of Martzy’s recordings. A discreet figure, too long overlooked in spite of the eloquence of her renditions and her absolute mastery of the instrument, she left a reduced discography which is an absolute must know. In the 50s, Martzy was the first female violinist ever to record the entire set of Bach’s solo sonatas and partitas. Here comes this landmark recording, newly remastered in high resolution.
