Widely considered one of the greatest Indian film composers of all time, R.D. Burman revolutionized Bollywood in the 1970s and '80s by introducing rock, disco, jazz, and other Western elements into the industry's traditional classical and Bengali folk styles. As both a composer and a singer, he scored a number of major hits and was nominated for numerous Filmfare awards throughout his career, winning three times. Born in 1939, Burman's life is celebrated with the 2014 release of this 75th anniversary compilation featuring 18 of his best-known recordings.
