In uno dei periodi artisticamente piu’ prolifici di Paul McCartney, a nemmeno un anno di distanza dal precedente “Venus and Mars”, esce nel marzo 1976 il quinto album della band da lui creata, i Wings. “At the speed of sound” non viene ritenuto dalla critica artisticamente all’altezza dei precedenti, ma e’ comunque un album piu’ corale, in risposta a certe voci che accusavano i Wings di essere solo una band di facciata di McCartney, e produce almeno tre singoli , “Silly love songs”, “Let’em in” e “Beware my love” che gli permettono di scalare tutte le maggiori classifiche internazionali, con oltre un milione di copie vendute nei soli Stati Uniti.
