Starlito

Nashville-based rapper Starlito is a prolific artist with a grassroots work ethic. After entering the rap game in the early 2000s as a hungry independent, he went on a journey that included work with some of the biggest names in Southern rap at the time and earned mainstream recognition for his consistent high-quality output. Starlito's rugged rhymes and intense street narratives evolved over the course of many frequently released mixtapes, and took on a higher definition on studio albums like 2023's Love Drug. Originally known as All Star Cashville Prince, Nashville rapper Jermaine Shute began independently releasing music in 2003, starting with a string of mixtapes that led to his 2005 studio debut Prince of the Ville. He signed with Cash Money that same year and released the successful single "Grey Goose" with guest stars Young Jeezy and Yo Gotti. The single "Crazy" was released in 2007 with labelmate Lil Wayne as guest, and by 2009 he was known as just All Star, with a proposed album, Cash Money Laundering. The album was never released, and All Star was off the label in 2010. Following his departure from Cash Money, All Star changed his stage name to Starlito and kicked into a more productive gear than ever before. Amid dozens of mixtapes, he also issued proper albums on his Grind Hard label, beginning with Cold Turkey, his first of several releases that registered on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Additionally, he collaborated with Memphis' Don Trip for the Step Brothers series, the third volume of which arrived in 2017. More projects followed over the next several years, including mixtapes like the 2022 Troy Money collaboration Cheap Phones & Turkey Bags, and studio output like 2023 album Love Drug, which featured guest spots from NoCap, Robin Raynelle, and Charleston White.
