Sena Kana

Classically trained singer Sena Kana went viral in Europe with her debut pop single, "Live Your Dreams," in 2017. Her smooth, light-as-air vocal quality contrasted with those of collaborators like Wiz Khalifa (2019's "Up") and Poo Bear (2020's "Undisputed") on later singles that combined elements of soft-focus pop, hip-hop, and dance music. The latter song was included on her debut EP, 2020's Serenity, which she followed a year later with the Show Me EP. Show Me marked her first appearance on the Billboard 200. Tokyo-born Sena Kana showed an interest in classic American musicals from a young age. Growing up, she took part in school plays, often playing the lead, and after finishing high school, she studied vocal music at a music academy in Japan. She made her pop recording debut with the strings-embellished single "Live Your Dreams" in 2017. It topped streaming charts in Europe. Her second release, the next year's "Truth or Dare," returned her to the European streaming charts. Kana came back in March 2019 with an updated sound on the single "Up" featuring pop group Sheppard and rapper Wiz Khalifa. Produced by Lindsey Jackson (Tori Kelly, Jasmine Rae) and Katalyst, the song was eventually certified gold in the U.S. Her debut EP, 2000's Serenity, included a collaboration with singer/rapper Poo Bear. The song, "Undisputed," reappeared alongside the rest of Serenity on the EP Show Me in 2021. It added a duet with singer/rapper Ty Dolla $ign. The five-song EP topped the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart while entering the Billboard 200 at number 112.
