Bodycode
When recording as Bodycode, electronic artist Alan Abrahams takes an almost new age approach to house music, creating swirling melodies intended to "unlock the psyche via the body." Abrahams was raised in South Africa, and moved to London and then Lisbon before settling in Berlin. The lush and exotic, polyrhythmic yet thoroughly melodic sounds he create reflect his nomadic early existence, interweaving tribal beats, techno bleeps, otherworldly vocal samples, and a few kitchen sinks. He unveiled the Bodycode moniker in 2006 for his debut, the complexly layered The Conservation of Electric Charge. Abrahams shelved the name for three years before returning with the far more atmospheric Immune in 2009.
