Adam Masterson

b. London, England. This talented singer-songwriter taught himself guitar and was writing his own songs by the age of 16. He made his start in the music industry in his late teens, playing in several bands on the London circuit but struggling to find a publisher for his roots rock material. Branching out as a solo artist, Masterson’s demo recordings for the small Volume Records label came to the attention of the BMG subsidiary Gravity. The revival of interest in singer-songwriters in the new millennium helped his cause, and he toured America as support for the Stereophonics’ Kelly Jones. Masterson recorded his 2003 debut album with Van Morrison associates including producer Mick Glossop, and experienced session musicians Kate St. John and Richie Buckley. Fitting in nicely alongside albums by the new wave of folk rock and alt country artists led by Ryan Adams, One Tale Too Many was perhaps too redolent of classic-era Morrison for many critics but there was no denying Masterson’s songwriting and vocal talents on stand-out tracks such as ‘What Yesterday Brings’ and ‘Sunlight Song’.
