YUKI KOYANAGI

Born in Saitama City Koyanagi to a Trinbagonian-American father and a Japanese mother (January 26, 1982), Japanese popstar Yuki Koyanagi burst onto the scene when she was just seventeen, scoring instant success with her first single, "Anata no kisu o kazoemashô – You Were Mine," released in September 1999 via Warner Music Japan. Her debut album, Freedom, arrived the following year and went to number six on Japan's Oricon chart. Her music gradually evolved from heartfelt J-pop into a contemporary mix of soul, hip-hop R&B with direction from Nathan Morris and Shawn Stockman of Boyz II Men, who wrote most of the songs and produced her 2002 album Intimacy. She continued to put out music for Warner Japan before changing labels to NAYUTAWAVE RECORDS (a sub-label of Universal Music Japan) in 2008, releasing the single "Rehab - Megamitachi no Kyuusoku." After taking a substantial break from recording, 2020 saw the release of comeback album SPHERE kyu uchu (SPHERE~球宇宙~).
