Trio Nebelmeer

France's Trio Nebelmeer was formed in 2019 and was soon signed to the major Mirare label after attracting the attention of top festival organizers. The group has appeared at major venues while continuing its studies. The Trio Nebelmeer was established in Paris by violinist Arthur Decaris, cellist Albéric Boullenois, and pianist Loann Fourmental, friends and music students with a desire to explore the piano trio repertory. The name Nebelmeer Trio has also been used in English-language contexts. The group's name comes from that of a work by Romantic artist Caspar David Friedrich, "Der Wanderer über dem Nebelmeer" ("The Wanderer Above the Sea of Clouds"), and indicates the players' interest in Romantic repertory. The new trio received scholarship support from an anonymous donor and enrolled in the master's program for chamber music at the Conservatoire de Paris (CNSMDP). Their teachers there were pianist Claire Désert and violinist Ami Flammer. The players have also studied with cellist Louis Rodde, Trio Wanderer, and the Modigliani and Diotima Quartets, as well as taking various master classes. In 2020, the Trio Nebelmeer was named quartet-in-residence at the International Piano Festival of La Roque d'Anthéron. The trio has appeared at other major festivals, including La Folle Journée de Varsovie in Poland and the Pianissimes Festival. In 2022, the group began a residency at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Belgium, studying with violinist Corina Belcea, violist Miguel da Silva, and pianist Jean-Claude Vanden Eyden. The Trio Nebelmeer, working with the DRAC Normandie government cultural agency and the Conservatoire de Caen, recorded its first album, featuring the rarely heard Piano Trio in G minor, Op. 3, of Ernest Chausson, and the Piano Trio in E minor, Op. 92, of Camille Saint-Saëns. The album was released on the Mirare label, which had also recorded the group's performances at the La Roque d'Anthéron Festival for future release.
