Mohammed Irfan

Indian playback singer Mohammed Irfan was born in Hyderabad on 1 July 1985 and rose to national fame after winning the reality show Jo Jeeta Woh Super Star 2, subsequently entering the Bollywood industry largely thanks to the support of S. P. Balasubrahmanyam who discovered him while playing a concert in Hyderabad and put him on A. R. Rahman's radar. His first big break came in 2010 when he was invited by A. R. Rahman to provide background vocals for the Mani-Ratnam-directed film Raavan, singing the song "Behene De" alongside Karthik. This paved the way for his next milestone, which took the form of two songs for Mithoon's Indian Hindi-language action thriller film Lamhaa, "Salaam Zindagi" and "Rehmat Zara," receiving the upcoming male vocalist of the year gong at the Mirchi Music Awards 2010 for the former. His next significant moment in the spotlight arrived the following year via the release of “Phir Mohabbat” with Arijit Singh, recorded for the 2011 film Murder 2, which led to a string of other projects and helped him to build on his repertoire from singing "Maahi Re" for the 2016 contemporary Indian film Shaukeen Kaminay and "Yaadon Mein" for the 2017 Indian Hindi-language rom-com Jab Harry Met Sejal to "Dard E Dil Kii Dawwa" and "Terri Aashiqui Ne Maarraa" for Himesh Ke Dil Se, the fifth studio album from Himesh Reshammiya. Singing primarily in Hindi, he has since recorded songs in Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, and other languages.
