Une tournée légendaire pour un artiste mythique. Après avoir sorti 5 albums entre 1970 et 1974, le grand Rory Gallagher entame une série de concerts en Irlande. Cork, Dublin, City Hall mais surtout Belfast. L’humeur de l’époque en Irlande du Nord n’était pas au blues rock. Les conflits de l’armée républicaine pendant les années 70 a énormément marqué l’histoire du pays, pourtant les habitants se souviennent également d’un certain guitariste ; « Je ne vois aucune raison de ne pas jouer à Belfast. Il y a toujours des gamins qui y vivent. ». « Lui seul pouvait jouer de la guitare comme ça sur cette putain de planète » ajoute son acolyte Tony Palmer. Avec Gerry McAvoy à la basse, Rod De’ath à la batterie et Lou Martin aux claviers, Rory Gallagher donna un show grandiose qui fidélisa beaucoup de ses fans pour cet engagement tout de même politique, quoique dise le concerné. Le héros du blues rock livre, entre deux titres enflammés, As The Crow Flies de Tony Joe White en acoustique et Going To My Hometown sur une mandoline. Une tournée légendaire pour un artiste mythique. Après avoir sorti 5 albums entre 1970 et 1974, le grand Rory Gallagher entame une série de concerts en Irlande. Cork, Dublin, City Hall mais surtout Belfast. L’humeur de l’époque en Irlande du Nord n’était pas au blues rock. Les conflits de l’armée républicaine pendant les années 70 a énormément marqué l’histoire du pays, pourtant les habitants se souviennent également d’un certain guitariste ; « Je ne vois aucune raison de ne pas jouer à Belfast. Il y a toujours des gamins qui y vivent. ». « Lui seul pouvait jouer de la guitare comme ça sur cette putain de planète » ajoute son acolyte Tony Palmer. Avec Gerry McAvoy à la basse, Rod De’ath à la batterie et Lou Martin aux claviers, Rory Gallagher donna un show grandiose qui fidélisa beaucoup de ses fans pour cet engagement tout de même politique, quoique dise le concerné. Le héros du blues rock livre, entre deux titres enflammés, As The Crow Flies de Tony Joe White en acoustique et Going To My Hometown sur une mandoline. Entièrement remastérisés, les enregistrements live sont purs, sans retouche studio ni prise de son complémentaire, délivrant une immersion totale dans la bonne vieille Strat d’un des plus grands guitaristes. © HR/Qobuz
