Un élixir d’amour sous forme d'une bouteille de... Bordeaux qui réussit à titiller tous les sens et à délier les langues, voilà la trame de cet opéra-comique dont le livret, signé Eugène Scribe, avait déjà été mis en musique par Aubert une année avant Donizetti. Il faudra aussi un providentiel héritage pour que le jeune et pauvre paysan change de statut social et puisse épouser la jolie Adina. L'oeuvre est vraiment charmante et ouvre la porte aux chefs-d'oeuvre ultérieurs du compositeur italien. Elle regorge de mélodies joyeuses et séduisantes. Cet enregistrement de 1977 reste un des meilleurs de la discographie. Sir John Pritchard mène son petit monde avec beaucoup de finesse et de légèreté. Geraint Evans est un Docteur Dulcamara plein d'abatage et comique à souhait. Placido Domingo un amoureux touchant et Ileana Cotrubas une Adina rouée à souhait. Une véritable réussite à consommer sans modération. FH

Un élixir d’amour sous forme d'une bouteille de... Bordeaux qui réussit à titiller tous les sens et à délier les langues, voilà la trame de cet opéra-comique dont le livret, signé Eugène Scribe, avait déjà été mis en musique par Aubert une année avant Donizetti. Il faudra aussi un providentiel héritage pour que le jeune et pauvre paysan change de statut social et puisse épouser la jolie Adina. L'oeuvre est vraiment charmante et ouvre la porte aux chefs-d'oeuvre ultérieurs du compositeur italien. Elle regorge de mélodies joyeuses et séduisantes. Cet enregistrement de 1977 reste un des meilleurs de la discographie. Sir John Pritchard mène son petit monde avec beaucoup de finesse et de légèreté. Geraint Evans est un Docteur Dulcamara plein d'abatage et comique à souhait. Placido Domingo un amoureux touchant et Ileana Cotrubas une Adina rouée à souhait. Une véritable réussite à consommer sans modération. FH
