A 86 anni, la Coal Miner’s Daughter è ancora attiva sulla scena di Nashville. Ospite fissa del Grand Ole Opry negli anni ’60, questa grande signora partita dal nulla per arrivare alla vetta è rispettata per non dire venerata da tutti i fan di musica country. Con Wouldn't It Be Great firma un progetto personale che ripercorre la sua carriera. Fedele al country classico degli honkytonks e della Carter Family, non stupisce sentirla cantare ancora una volta l’inno autobiografico Coal Miner’s Daughter. Sono passati quarantotto anni eppure il fascino resta intatto. Steel guitar, fiddle e voce austera, più passa il tempo, più la carica emotiva aumenta. Pur tornando su alcuni grandi classici (God Makes No Mistakes), Loretta non sprofonda tuttavia in una forma di nostalgia superata. Nuovamente coprodotto da John Carter Cash e dalla figlia Patsy Lynn Rusel, l’album contiene anche canzoni originali come No Time To Go e Ruby’s Stool.
