Projexx

The grandson of key dancehall producer King Jammy, Jamaican singer/producer Projexx brought his musical heritage to his own blend of dancehall, breaking into the mainstream with the WizKid collaboration "True Love." Born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica, Projexx spent most of his teenage years in the studio sessions of his musically gifted relatives, learning the craft alongside his grandfather (King Jammy) and father (Lloyd "John John" James). Having developed a strong repertoire on the mike and behind the boards, he debuted in 2018 with the minimal R&B of "The Vybz," the optimistic "Gifted," and the dancehall-led "Do It Everyday" before being featured on his uncle's collaborative album King Jammy Presents Dennis Brown: Tracks of Life. Finding success with his more dancehall-driven material, he built further on this style through 2019, releasing tracks like "Rise Man a Rise," "Vivid," and "Miami." A series of key co-signs made 2020 a breakout year for the musician; Projexx's early singles had caught the eyes of Nigerian singer WizKid and British-Ghanaian producer Juls, who collaborated with him on "True Love," the ninth track from WizKid's acclaimed Made in Lagos LP. After releasing his debut mixtape, Fully, Vol. 1, in November 2020, Projexx caught the attention of Warner, which signed him the following month. With an international following and a major label behind him, Projexx used 2021 to expand his catalog, finding success with singles like "Sidepiece" and Juls' "Chance" ahead of the release of his debut EP Queen Hill.
