Descubrimos otra joya de Neil Young. Con Young Shakespeare, publicado hace unos días, el Loner saca a la luz un maravilloso concierto grabado en el Shakespeare Theater de Stratford, Connecticut (USA), el 22 de enero de 1971. El concierto que ofreció tres días después está documentado en el indispensable Live at Massey Hall 1971, publicado en 2007. Son espectáculos que formaban parte de su gira Journey Through the Past Solo Tour. En su página web, el viejo bisonte canadiense no duda en declarar que este Young Shakespeare es superior a Massey Hall, y le parece más tranquilo y menos exuberante, al haber sido grabado en un lugar menos prestigioso que Massey Hall. Para Neil Young, este concierto suyo fue “el mejor que hice nunca, un concierto que definió toda una época”. Una observación posiblemente cierta, con temas en sus canciones que tratan de los sueños y los miedos de su generación (tenía 26 años en ese momento). La calidad de las canciones contribuye sin duda a hacer de este Young Shakespeare un álbum mítico, ya que con solo mirar los títulos de los temas nos estremecemos: Tell Me Why, Old Man, The Needle and the Damage Done, Ohio, Dance Dance Dance, Cowgirl in the Sand, A Man Needs a Maid/Heart of Gold, Journey Through the Past, Don’t Let It Bring You Down, Helpless, Down by the River y Sugar Mountain, canciones en los que la guitarra o el piano apoyan a un Neil Young que canta de maravilla. Descubrimos otra joya de Neil Young. Con Young Shakespeare, publicado hace unos días, el Loner saca a la luz un maravilloso concierto grabado en el Shakespeare Theater de Stratford, Connecticut (USA), el 22 de enero de 1971.
