Los aficionados a las bandas sonoras que frecuentan la mítica tienda The Record Album de Brighton saben que Thom Yorke suele aprovisionarse en esa cueva de Alí Baba que lleva el venerable George Ginn. Solo hacía falta que, un día, el cantante de Radiohead diera el paso y se decidiera a poner sus notas melancólicas en alguna película. Tras dudar durante meses a causa de la complejidad de la tarea, finalmente aceptó componer la música de Suspiria, remake del clásico del cine de terror dirigido por Dario Argento en 1977. En esta ocasión es Luca Guadagnino (Call Me by Your Name) quien está detrás de las cámaras; en cuanto a Yorke, toma el testigo –labor nada fácil– del grupo Goblin, creador del estupendo score original confeccionado a partir de tonalidades krautrock.
Interpretada mayormente por la London Contemporary Orchestra and Choir, el flautista Pasha Mansurov y el propio hijo de Yorke (Noah) a la batería, estas mágicas composiciones –a veces amenizadas por ruidos y sonodos extraídos del film– generan un malestar difuso pero instantáneo en el oyente. En ese sentido, cabe citar el tema principal, The Hooks, con esas notas pianísticas evocadoras de unos pasos que van ralentizándose progresivamente, o bien Voiceless Terror, con sus agudos y aterradores sintetizadores, así como Sabbath Incantation, cuyos coros se entremezclan con las sonoridades electrónicas. La BSO incluye igualmente algunas canciones originales escritas e interpretadas por Thom Yorke, más sedosas y apesadumbradas que inquietantes (y más cercanas al espíritu de Radiohead, por lo tanto). Se trata de pequeñas gemas como Suspirium y Has Ended, que aportan cierto respiro a una música que cumple perfectamente con los parámetros del género. © Nicolas Magenham/Qobuz

Presentación del Álbum
Los aficionados a las bandas sonoras que frecuentan la mítica tienda The Record Album de Brighton saben que Thom Yorke suele aprovisionarse en esa cueva de Alí Baba que lleva el venerable George Ginn. Solo hacía falta que, un día, el cantante de Radiohead diera el paso y se decidiera a poner sus notas melancólicas en alguna película. Tras dudar durante meses a causa de la complejidad de la tarea, finalmente aceptó componer la música de Suspiria, remake del clásico del cine de terror dirigido por Dario Argento en 1977. En esta ocasión es Luca Guadagnino (Call Me by Your Name) quien está detrás de las cámaras; en cuanto a Yorke, toma el testigo –labor nada fácil– del grupo Goblin, creador del estupendo score original confeccionado a partir de tonalidades krautrock.
Interpretada mayormente por la London Contemporary Orchestra and Choir, el flautista Pasha Mansurov y el propio hijo de Yorke (Noah) a la batería, estas mágicas composiciones –a veces amenizadas por ruidos y sonodos extraídos del film– generan un malestar difuso pero instantáneo en el oyente. En ese sentido, cabe citar el tema principal, The Hooks, con esas notas pianísticas evocadoras de unos pasos que van ralentizándose progresivamente, o bien Voiceless Terror, con sus agudos y aterradores sintetizadores, así como Sabbath Incantation, cuyos coros se entremezclan con las sonoridades electrónicas. La BSO incluye igualmente algunas canciones originales escritas e interpretadas por Thom Yorke, más sedosas y apesadumbradas que inquietantes (y más cercanas al espíritu de Radiohead, por lo tanto). Se trata de pequeñas gemas como Suspirium y Has Ended, que aportan cierto respiro a una música que cumple perfectamente con los parámetros del género. © Nicolas Magenham/Qobuz
