Veinte años después de su debut, Lisa Ekdahl se divierte con la picardía, la delicadeza y la clase que ya le conocemos, revisando joyas del pasado y presente del pop. Con Grand Songs, la sueca nos ofrece versiones de Billie Eilish (Wish You Were Gay) o los Beatles (I Should Have Known Better), Bob Dylan (Most Of The Time) o Beyoncé (If I Were A Boy), sin olvidar a Diana Ross and the Supremes (Stop! In The Name Of Love), los Monkeys (Take A Giant Step) y James Taylor (You Can Close Your Eyes). Desde el principio, y como toda vocalista de jazz digna de tal nombre, ha destacado en este peligroso ejercicio que además le permite resaltar la singularidad de su timbre vocal. En cuanto a la ambientación, alterna aquí entre el quinteto de jazz y la gran orquesta de cuerda, aunque las secuencias íntimas se ven eclipsadas un poco a favor de cierto hedonismo exuberante. Aunque es cuando se atreve a hacer todo lo contrario cuando Ekdahl es más relevante. Como su deliciosa bossa en I Should Have Known Better y su versión jazzística muy cincuentera de If I Were A Boy, los dos puntos culminantes de este disco tan reconfortante que es Grand Songs. © Marc Zisman/Qobuz
