L’artillerie lourde, la vraie ! Avec Fire And Water, la guitare tellurique et inspirée de Paul Kossoff et les incantations chamaniques très soul de Paul Rodgers entrent dans l’histoire du rock seventies. Parfois décrite comme un précurseur du hard rock naissant, la musique heavy de Free est bien plus riche, surtout sur ce troisième album, slalomant en fait entre blues rock planant, effluves légèrement psychédéliques et funk lourd et graisseux.
