Révélé par le télécrochet X-Factor en 2012, l'auteur-compositeur-interprète britannique James Arthur aura par la suite enchaîné les récompenses et les disques d'or, de platine et de diamant à un rythme soutenu, marquant tout particulièrement les esprits en 2016 avec l'album Back from the Edge (2016) et son hit "Say You Won't Let Me Go". En 2024, c'est avec Bitter Sweet Love que le chanteur retrouve le chemin des bacs, cinquième opus studio proposant treize nouveaux titres délaissant les atours soul et electro de certains de ses travaux précédents au profit d'un pop rock taillé sur mesure pour sa voix puissante. Coproduit par Steve Solomon et Red Triangle et bénéficiant en large partie de l'appui de Solomon et Jamie Graham à l'écriture, l'album s'empare notamment de la première place des charts à domicile avec l'aide de six singles dont "A Year Ago".
