Young Leek
When he met LL Cool J, rapper Young Leek stated clearly and strongly "You are my idol," but that didn't mean the young upstart wasn't about to challenge the hip-hop legend for the club single of the year, 2006. After moving to Baltimore from Atlantic City, Young Leek and his father -- also his manager -- hooked up with Stay Gettin' Entertainment to shop his Nelly-meets-Bow Wow sound. Soon his "Jiggle It" track was blowing up on Baltimore radio, thanks in no small part to the taste-making DJ K-Swift. Plain Pat from Def Jam caught wind of the Leek-mania and offered the 15-year-old a contract. Def Jam reissued the single in the spring of 2006.
