Wil
Born William Mimnaugh to two musically inclined parents, singer/songwriter Wil spent the first few years of his life in Quebec but moved to Calgary with his family in 1980. When he was 13, he received his first real guitar (he had had a toy one when since he was four), and began practicing his chops, drawing from the folk and country his parents listened to as well as groups and artists like Led Zeppelin and Michael Hedges. Soon he was performing around the city, and after issuing a three-song demo, Blue, Wil released Both Hands independently in 2002. The album was later picked up by EMI, which re-released it in 2004. By this time Wil had picked up drummer Pat Stewart and started working on his next record, By December, which then came out in the spring of 2007.
