Rudy Pérez

Born in Pinar del Rio, Cuba on May 14, 1958, Rudy Pérez is a U.S.-based musical renaissance man who is recognized as a singer, musician, songwriter, producer, arranger, engineer, musical director, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. Although he has released a small handful of solo albums, he is best known for his behind-the-scenes work. Over the course of his career, he has produced over 70 albums, composed 1,000+ songs – 300 of which have landed in the Top 10 – and has worked with many popular artists from all around the world. Rudy Pérez has won 26 ASCAP Awards (as of 2012), he’s been voted the most important Latin composer (four times) and was voted as Billboard’s Producer of the Decade in 2010 (an award given to the producer with the most Top 10 hits over a decade). He’s also the first Latin producer to win Billboard’s Producer of the Year award four years in a row. Rudy Pérez owns several record labels including Bullseye Productions and Rudy Pérez Enterprises (RPE). Moving with his family to the U.S. in the late 1960s, he began his career by playing with different rock and pop groups. His most high-profile group was Pearly Queen, who released two albums in the mid-1970s. He’s also released several solo albums including Rudy (1984). He began writing for others in the early 1980s, eventually working with a variety of artists including José Feliciano, Christina Aguilera, Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Natalie Cole, Julio Iglesias, and many others.
