Ramon Pipin

A founding member of the groups Au Bonheur des Dames and Odeurs, Alain Ranval aka Ramon Pipin continued in the same vein of satirical rock under his own name. Born in Paris on May 25, 1952, he played guitar, bass and keyboards in the group Au Bonheur des Dames, which blended humor and rock'n'roll, enjoying a renaissance with the 1974 hit "Oh les Filles!", covered by Les Pingouins. Although he reunited with this group for reunion recordings in 1987, 2006 and 2016, Ramon Pipin founded the Ramsès studio and formed his own group, Odeurs, which, in a style now inherited from punk and new wave, recorded five albums of parodic rock between 1979 and 1984. After this experience, the musician, arranger and producer worked with Éric Serra on the soundtrack to the film Subway, and then set to work on his first solo album, Nous Sommes Tous Frères (1985), in his characteristically humorous style. Bye Bye Vinyl followed in 1990, before the adaptation of 1960s rock standards in Ready, Steady, Go! (1992), with the participation of Jean-Jacques Milteau, where he recreates in his own way anthems popularized by The Who, Pink Floyd, Donovan, Yardbirds, The Kinks, Spencer Davis Group or Cream. Back in 2016, the facetious musician at the head of the Ramon Pipin Band signed the self-produced album Comment Éclairer Votre Intérieur, where he deploys his musical palette between intimate or orchestral pop and electronic or garage rock. The opus is followed two years later by Qu'Est-Ce Que C'Est Beau, swathed in strings, backing vocals and keyboards. In 2020, he reunites with his usual partners for Alafu, with whom he forms a new group called Les Excellents, whose discography opens with the album Ukulelum Trucidato - Ein 31 Musikstücke-Massker (2021).
