Kylie Morgan

A bright, chipper country-pop vocalist who proudly styles herself as something of a throwback to the 2000s, Kylie Morgan sings anthemic, shiny, and tuneful country-pop styled in the vein of classic Shania Twain. Morgan came crashing out the gate with this retro style at the dawn of the 2020s, having streaming hits with the brash "Break Things" and "I Only Date Cowboys" in 2020 and 2021, respectively. She smoothed things out on P.S., an EP released in 2022 that featured a duet with Walker Hayes called "Country Anyway." A native of Newcastle, Oklahoma, Kylie Morgan fell under the spell of showbiz through watching Shirley Temple videos as a child. Eventually, she gravitated to music, beginning to write original songs at the age of 12, inspired by her love of Shania Twain's UP! album. One of the first songs she unveiled to the public was "My Miracle," a song she wrote for a friend's sister who had cancer. "My Miracle" was showcased at Relay for Life events around Morgan's hometown. Around this time, she started performing at Oklahoma's Rodeo Opry, which led to her doing some live touring. When she was 15, she headed to Nashville to write songs, having a session with Walker Hayes and Liz Hengber. By the time she was 16, she had garnered enough of a reputation to have the Country Music Association place her on a "Who New to Watch" list. At the age of 19, she relocated to Nashville, where she signed a management and publishing deal with SMACKSongs, a house led by Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne. Morgan then signed a contract with EMI Nashville, releasing her first single, "Boys Girl," in 2019. "Break Things" and "Cuss a Little" followed in 2020; the latter featured a cameo by Walker Hayes. "Shoulda" and "I Only Date Cowboys" arrived in 2021 and were also showcased on Morgan's debut EP, Love, Kylie, which was produced by Shane McAnally and Ben Johnson. As she pursued her career, Kylie Morgan pursued her passion for yoga, earning an official Yoga Alliance Certification and launching a web series called namasteathome during the COVID-19 pandemic of the early 2020s. "Independent with You" and "Love Like We're Drunk" both preceded the 2022 EP P.S., which once again featured Walker Hayes, this time singing on "Country Anyway."
