Jaffar Byn

Jafar Ahmed Sadik (January 4, 1996), better known by his stage name Jaffar Byn, is a Swedish rapper from Rinkeby. Born in Stockholm to Somali parents, he discovered hip hop as a teenager and formed the rap collective Byn Block Entertainment (BBE) with some of his childhood friends in 2013. Three years later, BBE merged with a group of rappers from Järva, resulting in the supergroup Ghetto Superstars, with whom he released Mixtape (2015) and Plan B (2016) before being imprisoned in 2017 for possession of illegal firearms. In the meantime, his studio debut Ghettokända, leaked in 2016 but officially released in 2018, enjoyed a great deal of success in the underground hip hop scene. After serving three years of his sentence, Jaffar Byn was finally released in 2020. That year, his comeback single “Pistol Whip” reached Number 11 on the Sverigetopplistan and “Rea” (2021) peaked at Number 34. Preceded by the singles “Bakom Kulisserna” with former bandmate Yasin and “Döden,” an EP titled Trilogin hit the shelves in 2021. That year, his sophomore effort Guantanamo bowed at Number 7 in Sweden. In 2022, the title track from his third album Allting Har Sitt Pris entered the Swedish Top 50 at Number 49.
