H1-KEY

South Korean girl group H1-Key (pronounced "high key") specializes in modern, hip-hop-tinged dance-pop with a positive, determined outlook. After landing in the Top 20 with their debut EP, 2023's Rose Blossom, they went to number three with the follow-up, Seoul Dreaming, before the end of the same year. Formed in Seoul by GLG in partnership with Sony Music Korea in November 2021, H1-Key's original lineup consisted of Seol (leader), Yel, Riina, and Sitala, who were revealed one by one toward the end of the month. They first appeared together in a dance cover video of Tinashe's "Me So Bad." Their first original single, "Athletic Girl," quickly followed in December, with the associated single album arriving the next month. The quartet's one Thai member, Sitala, parted ways with H1-Key in May 2022. Hwiseo took her place, and the adjusted lineup released a single album for "Run" that July. It landed in the Top 50 of Korea's album chart. H1-Key delivered their first official EP, Rose Blossom, in January 2023. With help from their first Top 20 hit, also called "Rose Blossom," it climbed to number 19 on the album chart before Riina and Hwiseo appeared as contestants on the reality TV series Queendom Puzzle. Hwiseo ultimately finished in first place on the show and made her debut in the seven-piece supergroup El7z Up, alongside members of CLC, LovelyZ, Purple Kiss, Rocket Punch, WJSN, and Woo! Ah! A month before El7z Up reached number 11 with the debut EP 7+Up, H1-Key went all the way to number three with their sophomore EP, August 2023's Seoul Dreaming. Together, H1-Key went on to win the reality music competition The Show that September. The group kicked off 2024 with a new project dubbed H1-KEYnote.
