Globe

Globe is a Japanese pop band formed in 1995 by composer and producer Tetsuya Komuro. The group is known for its catchy and upbeat dance-oriented music, which incorporates elements from synthpop, trance, and Eurobeat. The band was originally composed of four members: multi-instrumentalist Tetsuya Komuro, vocalist Keiko Yamada, rapper Marc Panther, and Mark Takai. Yoshiki, drummer and pianist for X Japan, joined the group in 2002 but ended up leaving in 2005 due to conflicts in his schedule. Their debut single, "Feel Like Dance," was released in 1995 and became a massive hit, reaching Number 3 on the Oricon Singles Chart and selling over 800,000 copies. Released in 1996, their self-titled studio debut started a streak of chart-topping albums that continued with FACES PLACES (1997), Love Again (1998), and Relation (1998). Globe spent a big part of the following decade experimenting with new genres on releases such as outernet (2001), Lights (2002), and Lights2 (2002) before taking a break in 2003. After returning in 2005 with the Top 5 entry globe2 Pop/Rock, the group delivered two more albums—the full-length Maniac and the mini-album New Deal— in 2006 and later vanished from the public eye once again. Following the release of the compilation 15 Years-Best Hit Selection in 2018, Tetsuya Komuro finally announced the band's definitive dissolution.
