G.o.d

Groove Over Dose (g.o.d) is a South Korean boy band, acclaimed for their unique blend of R&B and rap, formed by the talent agency SidusHQ. The group was established by Park Joon-hyung in 1997, along with his cousin Danny Ahn and friends Son Ho-young, Yoon Kye-sang, and Kim Tae-woo. Initially named GOT6, the band faced significant challenges due to the 1997 Asian financial crisis but persevered under the mentorship of Park Jin-young. In 1999, they released their debut album, Chapter 1, which featured the hit single "To Mother." That same year, they released their second album, Chapter Two. However, it was with their third album, Chapter Three, released in 2000, that Groove Over Dose gained mainstream success, selling over a million copies and reaching the top of the South Korean charts. Their track "Lies" won the Daesang at the KBS Music Awards, and they conducted their first national tour in 2001. Their fourth album, Chapter 4, also reached Number 1 in South Korea, with its lead single "Road" topping multiple music charts. In 2002, Groove Over Dose featured on the cover of the Asian edition of Time Magazine. After Yoon Kye-sang left in 2004, the group transitioned to JYP Entertainment. They released two more chart-topping albums—An Ordinary Day (2004) and Into the Sky (2005)—before going on a hiatus in 2006. In 2014, Groove Over Dose made a comeback with all original members, releasing the album Chapter 8. This return became a national event, including the group's 15th-anniversary tour in 2014. Over the following years, the band continued to embark on several nationwide tours, also issuing the compilation Then & Now in 2019.
