Black Caviar
New York City electronic dance duo Black Caviar deliver catchy house anthems with big drops and equally big hooks. Scoring a streaming hit in 2017 with "Coco," the pair soon reached an even wider audience with "What's Up Danger" from the gold-certified, Grammy-nominated soundtrack to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Another film opportunity arrived the next year and the guys put their spin on the Charlie's Angels theme for the 2019 movie reboot. After a handful of 2022 EP releases, they teamed up with Domenico and Rion S as the dance supergroup Prince Street Bodega.
The pair -- Troy Hinson and Jared Piccone -- met in a Pennsylvania bowling alley, sharing stories about their personal attempts to break into the music business with hardcore, metal, and hip-hop. Moving to New York City, they eventually gave it another go and this time their efforts paid off. As Black Caviar, they issued their debut single "Lady (Hear Me Tonight)" in 2015, followed by "Touch It." In 2016, they released "Good Lovin'" and the progressive house "You Ain't Gotta Bounce to This (Lean)." That same year, in addition to a cover of Folk Implosion's "Natural One," Black Caviar teamed up with Justina Valentine for "Tu Se Animale" and Kool Keith on "New York, What's Happenin'?" They also remixed a number of tracks by artists like Marian Hill ("Down") and Big Shaq ("Man's Not Hot"). In 2017, they scored a viral streaming hit with the u.n.i-featuring "Coco." The exposure led to a spot on the soundtrack to the 2018 animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse with "What's Up Danger" featuring Blackway. The album went on to earn gold certification and a Grammy nomination in 2019. That same year, the duo issued the single "Killa Shit Funk" (feat. G.L.A.M.) and "Do You Like It When I'm Freaky?" They also joined another star-studded film soundtrack, reinterpreting the main theme for Charlie's Angels.
A short EP, Caviar Chronicles, Vol. 1, arrived in 2020. Additional collaborations followed, including a reunion with Blackway for "Do the Damn Thing." They continued in 2021, releasing singles such as "Own My Own Masters" and "Been That Ill" from the EP Rivington & Ludlow. Their next major project involved Domenico and Rion S; the quartet dubbed themselves Prince Street Bodega. The supergroup released their first single, the disco-house "Contagious," in late 2022. The funk-infused "Shake It Out" arrived in early 2023.
