吳卓源

Born on Hainan Island, raised between Shanghai and Melbourne and educated at Massachusetts’ Berklee School of Music, Julia Wu is well-travelled to say the least. Née Wu Zhuo-Yuan on October 6th, 1994, the Chinese-Australian multi-instrumentalist first cut her teeth in the industry as a pianist, guitarist and flautist before showcasing her singing abilities on the X Factor Australia in 2014 at the age of nineteen. Freezing up on the show amidst her initial audition, a Whitney Houston cover which also marked her first ever live performance, she nonetheless charmed listeners with her powerful voice and nostalgic R&B leanings, progressing as far as the bootcamp stage of the competition. Returning to TV screens in 2015 – this time on the other side of the equator – as a co-star in the second season of reality show Miss Korea, she continued to raise her profile, working her way up to stardom ahead of her musical debut. Wu’s first EP, H.E.N.R.Y, arrived via KKFARM (the label arm of streaming service KKBOX) in March 2017, with her debut album, 1:28, emerging just six months later. The following year, she was nominated for a prestigious Golden Melody Award, and released her sophomore album, the ChynaHouse-signed 1994 Still Old. Increasingly catering to both Mandarin and English-speaking audiences, she opted to record her chilled-out third LP in both languages, with the two editions respectively titled 5 am (2019) and 5 pm (2020). Over the course of a prolific 2020, Wu returned with the miniature live album 5:30 Rehearsals as well as a string of new singles including “Take Me Back”, a collaboration with EDM heavyweights Yellow Claw and CORSAK.
