Giusto per dare un’idea, Chris Dave è stato batterista di Adele e di Justin Bieber, di Dolly Parton e di D’Angelo, di Sonny Rollins e d’A Tribe Called Quest. Giusto sei nomi pescati a caso per mostrare la portata del CV del nostro caro amico… Ma questa volta, la gang esce dall’ombra per prendersi i proiettori in pieno e dritti in faccia. Il loro album è innanzitutto una terra di nessuno in cui la nozione di genere non ha più senso, in cui gli elementi del funk, della soul, del gospel, della hip-hop e del jazz si combinano fino a diventare un tutt’uno e formare una massa solida di groove senza per questo essere soltanto una indigesta jam session. Tra gli oltre cinquanta di musicisti che costituiscono i Drumhedz troviamo anche Pino Palladino (basso), Isaiah Sharkey (chitarra), Cleo "Pookie" Sample (tastiere), Sir Darryl Farris (canto), Keyon Harrold (sax), ma anche James Poyser (The Roots), Stokley Williams (Mint Condition) e Shafiq Husayn (Sa-Ra), senza dimenticare Anderson, Paak, Bilal, DJ Jazzy Jeff o ancora Phonte Coleman.
