With Ester, their first album released in 2012, Trailer Trash Tracys unrolled the soundtrack of a waking dream, a kind of vaguely shoegaze indie rock looking towards the music of Vivian Girls, Crystal Stilts, The XX and The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart. Five years later, the London tandem still dreams but adds this time a good deal of exoticism to their music. With winks from all around the world, Althaea is a fascinating oddity of kaleidoscopic dream pop. You’ll find everything in there: Filipino carnival music, latin rhythms, Japanese music from the 80s, in short a world chic toolkit which adds color to the music of Trailer Trash Tracys without distorting it. And most of all, the elvish voice of Suzanne Aztoria stays the solid common thread of a multicolored disc which takes its listener by the hand without ever letting go. © CM/Qobuz
