Il testamento. L’ultimo capitolo. Abbey Road esce nel settembre 1969: sarà l’ultimo vero episodio discografico dei Beatles, visto che Let It Be, pubblicato nel maggio 1970, era stato registrato in precedenza. Un addio che magnifica l’arte della composizione, la padronanza melodica e gli equilibri armonici. Ancora una volta la tavolozza è ben fornita, che si parli di ballate sconvolgenti o di brani nettamente più percussivi (Come Together). Abbey Road ricorda anche che, dietro la coppia di numi tutelari Lennon/McCartney, George (Here Comes The Sun) e Ringo (Octopus's Garden) non sono lì a far presenza… Questo capolavoro, come pure il suo successo, non impediranno ai Fab Four di mettere fine alla loro unione.
