Tassilo Probst

Something of a child prodigy, violinist Tassilo Probst became a seasoned performer while still in his teens. In his early twenties, he recorded for the Berlin Classics and Onyx labels. Probst was born in Munich in 2002. His family was musically inclined, and several members were performers. Probst took up the violin at age four and was trained in the Suzuki method. As a small child, he performed with his father and brother for Pope Benedict XVI in St. Peter's Square and at the Pantheon in Greece. Probst performed frequently in children's concerts of the Munich Philharmonic, and he appeared in benefit concerts at several German venues. For four years, from 2014 to 2017, he was a member of the orchestra of the Festival der Nationen in Bad Wörishofen, Germany. At 12, Probst enrolled at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich, and at 14, he made his major-orchestra soloist debut with the Bad Reichenhall Philharmonic in the Violin Concerto in A minor, Op. 82, of Glazunov. Probst graduated from the Hochschule für Musik und Theater at 19 and went on to enter the master's program at the Leopold Mozart Center at the University of Augsburg, studying with Linus Roth. The recipient of several major German music scholarships, Probst has taken master classes from Zakhar Bron, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, Christian Tetzlaff, and other top players. By the time Probst entered his twenties, he was already a seasoned performer. He has appeared with the George Enescu Philharmonic in Romania, the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, and ensembles in various parts of Germany, including the Jewish Chamber Orchestra of Munich. He has been seen and heard widely on broadcast media in Bavaria. Probst is active as a chamber music player, performing with such figures as violinist Daniel Hope, violist Nils Mönkemeyer, soprano Chen Reiss, and pianist Maxim Lando. With the latter, he recorded his debut album, Into Madness, which appeared in 2022 on the Berlin Classics label. Probst returned in 2023 with an appearance on Onyx with the Jewish Chamber Orchestra of Munich album Weinberg, performing Mieczyslaw Weinberg's Concertino for violin and string orchestra, Op. 42.
