Daikokudanji

In 2010, South Korean boy band The Boss, consisting of Karam, Injun, Mika, Hyunmin and Jay, was brought together by Open World Entertainment. They made their debut on March 4 by performing "Admiring Boy (동경소년)" on M! Countdown which was included on their June 17 mini-album, Awake, alongside "Shining World (눈부신 세계)" and "Stumble Stumble (비틀비틀)." On January 20, 2011, The Boss received the Newcomer Award at the 20th Seoul Music Awards, unveiling the promotional video for their first Japanese single, "Love Power," released in April that year. This debut marked a significant achievement, ranking 6th on the Oricon Daily Chart and 9th on the Oricon Weekly Charts and the group continued to gain momentum with "Love Bingo!" and "Love Parade" with the latter selling over 18,000 copies in the first week. After nearly a year in Japan, The Boss returned to South Korea briefly in September to promote their Korean single album, Lady, which featured the title track as well as popular single "Calling You," before returning to Japan to release "Love Days," marking the release of The Boss's first Japanese album, Love Letters, which sold 14,379 copies and secured the seventh spot on the Oricon Weekly Charts, followed by On the Way, which charted at number eight. A year later, on the eve of their first Korean album release, Shadow, the group’s label experienced a setback and the album was postponed indefinitely and the group signed with POOM Entertainment two years later, releasing their new digital album Chapter II on November 28, 2013, with single album Rilla Go! following in 2014. Still enjoying considerable popularity in Japan, the group announced their 2016 tour titled Are You Ready? with performances in Tokyo, Shizuoka, Miyagi, and Osaka attracting tens of thousands of concert-goers, however, the departure of Hyunmin and Mika between 2017 and 2018 saw the group grind to a halt. After a lengthy hiatus, the remaining trio reappeared in 2023 on Peak Time, a show promoting already-debuted K-pop boy bands, withdrawing before the second elimination round to the dismay of their fans, due to the widespread circulation of controversial pictures of group member, Karam.
