Bella Poarch

Singer and social media personality Bella Poarch is known for her dark yet still dance-oriented brand of electronic pop. She debuted on the Top 40 with 2021's "Build a Bitch," paving the way for her 2022 EP Dolls. Poarch was born Denarie Taylor 1997 in the Philippines and lived with her grandmother until the age of three. She was then adopted by a Caucasian American father and Filipino mother, who raised her on a farm in the Philippines along with several siblings. According to Poarch, she endured physical and verbal abuse while growing up, a trauma that lasted even after the family relocated to San Francisco and Texas while she was in her teens. In 2017, she enlisted in the Navy and spent three years stationed in Japan and Hawaii. After her discharge, Poarch began posting content to various social media platforms, where she first garnered attention for her lip-syncing videos, several of which went viral. She eventually moved into singing her own songs, and in 2021 signed a deal with Warner Records. That same year, she released her first single, "Build a Bitch," a darkly satirical pop anthem centered on themes of abuse and feminist empowerment. The song cracked the Top 40 and was included on her debut EP, 2022's Dolls, which also featured the title-track single.
