« [...] Malgré une présence limitée à la direction des chanteurs, Rudolf Lutz (dont on pourrait rêver qu’il enregistrât lui aussi la Clavier Übung !) semble imprimer de sa patte une réalisation remarquable. Le plan de l’album retient d’abord l’attention : non seulement les chorals pour orgue sont précédés de leurs versions vocales à quatre voix ou une seule et continuo, mais ils sont en plus rangés en deux séries distinctes (grandes versions, petites versions), ce qui ouvre une perspective d’écoute inattendue sur l’ensemble de ces pièces. C’est pourtant à Johannes Lang que reviennent les plus hautes louanges. Bien que touchant un orgue récent et un peu froid, qui plus est flouté par une acoustique trop généreuse, le jeune interprète se livre à un coup de maître. Plasticité des phrasés, clarté des intentions, technique souveraine et, surtout, un pédalier robuste et d’un dynamisme infatigable placent cette version au premier rang des plus récentes (par exempleBerben chez Ramée).
