Austin Roberts
A Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter who landed a Top Ten hit in 1975 with a cover version of the Jay Stevens'-penned country-pop/soft rock weeper "Rocky," the multi-talented Austin Roberts has also written for television and the stage. Roberts served as the lead vocalist with numerous groups during the late '60s and '70s, including the Buchanan Brothers and Arkade, the latter of whom scored a hit in the early '70s with "The Morning of Our Lives." Roberts made his second solo Billboard appearance in 1975 with the hit "Something's Wrong with Me," which peaked at number 12, and in 1983, Roberts and Bobby Hart penned the song "Over You" for the film Tender Mercies, and were rewarded with nominations for both an Oscar and a Golden Globe. That same year Roberts took home a Grammy award for the Lee Greenwood hit "I.O.U," which he co-wrote with Kerry Chater. Roberts composition work in television and film includes numerous soap operas, the 1988 Olympic theme song for the U.S. Gymnastics team, which Kenny Rogers later turned into a hit, and the movies Tornado, Within These Walls, and They Were the Mulvaneys. Roberts has also written the music and lyrics for a pair of musicals, Rachinoff and Damon's Song, and served as the lead vocalist on the theme song for the Hanna-Barbera cartoon classic Scooby-Doo, Where Are You.
