AMARIA BB

Born on July 17, 2003 in Jamaica, Jamaican-English pop singer-songwriter Amaria BB relocated to the UK when she was young and grew up in Hackney, London. She began displaying a talent for singing around the age of 8 years old and won the first season of the British TV show Got What It Takes? in 2006 when she was aged just 12. After attending the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology, her first release arrived in 2013, a sexed-up sonic sketch called "Moan Interlude", with hip-hop-adjacent "Cha$e the Bag" turning up six years later. Amaria BB, who draws influence from artists including Lauryn Hill, Jagged Edge, Etta James, Buju Banton, Nina Simone, and Crazy Cousinz, mixed R&B and dancehall for her 2021 track with Jamaica's Skillibeng, "Fundz", also embracing her Caribbean heritage on the patois-laced "Slow Motion", also released that year. Signed to Columbia Records, she dropped her debut EP in 2022, What's Done in the Dark, which features "Slow Motion", and talked-about single, "Secrets", among other tracks.
