Rinforzando il blue-eyed soul che è stato da sempre il loro caposaldo, i Maroon 5 alzano la posta con Hands All Over, riducendo il loro rock al minimo indispensabile, e rivestendo ogni canzone (persino le power ballad) con un ritmo stretto e immacolato. È proprio la mossa contraria alle aspettative destate dall'ingaggio del famoso produttore Robert John “Mutt” Lange, l'uomo responsabile di alcuni dei migliori dischi di hard rock e heavy metal della storia, ma Lange trasforma la band in una macchina pulita e efficiente. Niente grassi in questo disco, il suono è splendentemente brillante, quasi incandescente. Nonostante il suono sia così pristino, Hands All Over riesce a conservare il senso del soul del gruppo, e a catturare il loro mestiere e personalità in una confezione elegante e lucidata. L'album migliore dei Maroon 5.
