Luka Faulisi

Violinist Luka Faulisi was signed to the major Sony Classical label before he reached his 21st birthday. He released his debut album in 2023. Faulisi was born in 2002 in Paris. His full name is Luka Faulisi Ostović, and he is of Italian, French, and Serbian background. Faulisi's family is musical; his father was a flutist and flute-maker, and his mother was a music lover who, while pregnant with Faulisi, attended a recital by violinist Maxim Vengerov and pianist Itamar Golan; Golan would later serve as accompanist on Faulisi's debut album, two decades later. Faulisi took up the violin at age three. He studied in Paris with Larissa Kolos and then attended the Maastricht Conservatory in the Netherlands, where he was a student of Boris Belkin. Faulisi went on for further study at the Lorenzo Perosi Academy in Biella, Italy, where his teacher, Pavel Berman, became a major backer of his career. He was also praised by the flutist Emmanuel Pahud. Faulisi's reputation was boosted by wins at the Arthur Grumiaux International Violin Competition in Brussels and the Concours Vatelot Rampal. Soon, he was making major debuts as both a concerto soloist and a recitalist. He has appeared with the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse at the Halle aux Grains in Aix-en-Provence, the Szczecin Philharmonic in Poland, and the Filarmonica di Torino, among other groups. Faulisi has also performed in Belgrade with the Radio Television Serbia Symphony Orchestra. Scheduled for 2023 were a recital at the 30th Festival du Salon de Provence and a debut with the Oulu Symphony Orchestra in Finland. That year, Faulisi released his debut Sony Classical album, Aria, featuring arrangements of operatic arias for violin and piano. Some of the arrangements -- of themes from Verdi's La Traviata -- were Faulisi's own.
