Si les puristes le définissent comme un disque smooth jazz, Twentysomething est avant tout un disque de jazz accessible. Avec au menu, quelques reprises surprenantes de titres pop et rock, comme le « Lover, You Should Have Come Over » de Jeff Buckley, « High and Dry » de Radiohead ou encore « Wind Cries Mary » de Jimi Hendrix. Jamie Cullum s’attaque également à des standards : « I Get a Kick Out of You » de Cole Porter ou « Blame It On My Youth » de Chet Baker.
Cullum pose également sa patte toute personnelle en proposant des arrangements originaux et de qualité, mais aussi avec des titres qu’il a lui-même composés, tels que « Twentysomething », « These Are the Days » ou « It's About Time ». Avec Twentysomething, Jamie Cullum est devenu une véritable pop-star et a ouvert une brèche énorme entre la pop et le jazz. Une brèche dans laquelle de nombreux artistes aimeraient s’engouffrer…
