Le lieu de leur union d’un jour est insolite : la chambre n°29. C’est là que Jarvis Cocker et Chilly Gonzales publient leur disque commun sous pavillon Deutsche Grammophon. Le Britannique et le Canadien présentent leur projet insolite ainsi : « Vous croyez aux fantômes ? Et si une chambre pouvait raconter les moments de vie de ses habitants ? Et encore mieux : et si on pouvait orchestrer ces histoires en chansons ? » Dans Room 29, le cerveau de Pulp et son complice d’outre-Atlantique donnent une voix à ces fantômes, via la musique, le théâtre, des clips s’inspirant des films de l’âge d’or d’Hollywood et plus encore, révélant ainsi les secrets de la chambre 29 du fameux Château Marmont, ce palace hollywoodien où séjournèrent les plus grandes star du cinéma… On se laisse porter par les mélodies sépia d’une musique mélancolique pleine de nostalgie, essentiellement jouée au piano, et par ces histoires hors du temps qui mêlent fiction totale, mythologie du 7e Art et poésie pure. Enregistré à Paris au studio Ferber avec le producteur Renaud Letang, Room 29 accueille le Kaiser Quartett, la flûtiste Nathalie Hauptman, le joueur de cor Hasko Kroeger et la soprano Maud Techa. © MD/Qobuz
